St. Columba’s Episcopal Church
Spiritual Gifts
Each one of us has been blessed by the Holy Spirit with unique spiritual gifts. They are who you are. They are why you gravitate toward certain things. They are what seems natural or easy for you, yet extraordinary to others. They are God-given skills, abilities, and talents through which God wishes to pour his love, mercy, and power into the lives of other people. It takes many different types of people, skills, and talents to make St. Columba’s what it is.
There is no one set of people, one set of talents. It is all of us. It includes you. Paul explained it best to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 12: 17-21):
If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
We are one body; one body in Christ. There is a wide range of opportunities to use your gifts in this booklet. You are invited to share your interest in using your gifts in order to serve St. Columba’s and beyond.
