Rev. Dr. Michael Anderson
Michael serves as Rector of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church. He sees parish life as shared work. His preaching and teaching aim to be honest about faith while still making room for hope. Michael is especially interested in how worship, art, and theology shape the way we live and love in the world. He is grateful to share in the life of a community rooted in ancient faith and alive in the present.
Michael grew up in San Dimas, California, the setting of the classic film, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, a fact he is, perhaps, overly proud of. Raised in a non-denominational church, Michael later fell in love with the Episcopal Church while living in Scotland, where he pursued a PhD in Art and Theology. He and his wife, Francina, have four children, who can usually be found somewhere near the back of the church and are rarely hard to spot (or hear).
Rector
Francina Anderson
Francina earned her degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Biblical Studies and later completed her teaching credential. She began her career in California as an upper elementary and middle school teacher. When her family moved to Scotland for her husband’s postgraduate work, Francina continued teaching children and adults in a church setting. After relocating to Texas, she served as a youth director and women’s Bible study teacher.
In 2024, Francina and her family of six moved to Camarillo, where she now serves as the Family and Children’s Director. She is excited to partner with students and their families, encouraging a love for learning and nurturing a deep, lasting faith in Christ.
